The Philbrook Farm Inn offers simplicity rather than luxury, genuineness rather than pretense. Real antiques are blended with practical reproductions, and everywhere you look are images and memorabilia of the way life used to be. Here the better things of yesterday are combined with the necessities of today.
Located in the Androscoggin River Valley, Philbrook Farm is surrounded by mountain ranges. The rugged Mahoosuc Range rises abruptly behind the inn, and you can sit on the porch or the front lawn, and look across our fields to the Carter Moriah and Presidential Mountain Ranges. The highest mountain in the northeast, Mt. Washington (6,288), is only a 20 minute drive.
There are trails leading from the inn's door that will take you hiking, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing for endless miles of adventure! The Appalachian Trail follows the ridges of the surrounding ranges and many other AMC trails connect with those leading from the inn. The Randolph Mountain Club also maintains trails nearby in the 773,000 acre White Mountain National Forest.
The White Mountains are spectacular in any season, and are full of sightseeing opportunities and family attractions. Downhill skiing is at its best at nearby Sunday River, Mt. Abrams or Wildcat. Cross-country ski trails are groomed nearby at Great Glen, Nansen and Sunday River X-C Center.
