The Lakehouse On Golden Pond hides very discreetly nestled on 22 back country acres... At the Lakehouse, you are meant to feel a long way from the city, wrapped in serenity and privacy. And you do. To stay on Golden Pond, however, is not to rough it. This idealized retreat offers what can only be called country luxury.
As the day drifts by, some guests like to wander the woods, others relax with a book or a friend's conversation.
All delight in watching deer graze and play on the lawn, just a few feet from their deck.
Summer, spring and fall are dedicated to guests who enjoy water sports. The Lakehouse's private seven acre lake is a true bass fishing heaven. Rowboats that bob gently in the water at the covered boat dock offer a relaxing time in an idyllic setting. Guests row out to their own private island to sunbathe, relax, and renew, or they indulge in a refreshing swim.
Winter offers special delights. Under a pristine blanket of snow, the woods and buildings take on an indescribable quiet and beauty. The frozen lake is breathtaking in winter's sparkling haze. Cross-country skiing is found nearby, and downhill skiing can be enjoyed in the adjoining Catskills or in the neighboring Berkshires. Inside the luxuriousness of the Lakehouse, winter is warm and friendly. Stacks and stacks of firewood feed blazing fires and turn a winters day into your private, cozy house party.
Although most guests find that the Lakehouse's own setting provides pleasures a plenty, the surrounding area contains a rich variety of diversions.
Within a short drive guests enjoy the historic Hudson River mansions and local wineries, fabulous antiqueing in Hyde Park, berry and apple picking, 3 area golf courses, tennis, horseback riding, hiking, the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, the Rhinebeck Aerodrome, and quaint historic villages filled with fine restaurants and specialty shops.
