Admiral Peary House Bed & Breakfast in Fryeburg. Our historic home was once the residence of the famous Arctic explorer renowned for his discovery of the North Pole, Admiral Robert E. Peary. Located on a quiet residential street in Fryeburg, the oldest village in the White Mountains of western Maine, the Admiral Peary House sits on ten beautiful acres. Surrounding the sprawling white victorian farm house, circa 1865, are spacious lawns, award-winning perennial gardens, and a superb red clay tennis court. Spring, Summer and Fall guests will enjoy a vast array of activities in the area, such as, hiking, antiquing, golfing, outlet shopping, boating, and, of course, playing tennis. Complimentary bicycles are available to enjoy the scenic beauty of our village. The guest livingroom has a massive fireplace, ample sitting and reading areas, and a regulation billiard table. A large screened porch complete with white wicker overlooks the lawns and gardens to the back of the house. The porch is the perfect spot for a quiet retreat for reading or socializing with other guests.
There is also a year-round outdoor spa where you can enjoy a theraputic soak.
Breakfasts at the Admiral Peary House are an "event". A full country breakfast complete with homemade breads, muffins, and fresh fruits is served each morning. Favorite entrees include Maine Blueberry Pancakes, Belgian Waffles, or Admiral Peary "Penguin" Pie. Served at the enormous table in the sunny country kitchen or our elegant dining room, guests enjoy meeting each other during the leisurely meal.
