Named after Queen Anne of England, the Pilgrim's major benefactor and financial supporter, the Queen Anne Inn is located on Queen Anne Road in Chatham, a fishing village on the outer Cape Cod, Nassachisetts. Built in 1840 as a wedding present to the daughter of famous Clipper Ship Captain Norman Howes, it became the first parish house of the First Congregational Church, when Captain Howes' daughter married a minister. In the same year, their first child, Charles Rockwell, was born in the building. Following his grandfather's seagoing heritage, he became one of this country's most successful admirals, starting his military career as a captain and later builder of the world's first submarine.
