Governor's Mansion, Miramichi, New Brunswick, Canada

Governor's Mansion, Miramichi

Drift Back to a bygone era when the tallships sailed the seas. Stroll along the riverbank and breath in the salty Atlantic breeze. Try your hand at fly-fishing on the Mighty Miramichi River. Hike. Bike. Canoe. Or just plain relax... Governor's Mansion Inn Bed and Breakfast warmly welcomes travellers to comfortable overnight accommodation in a peaceful and picturesque setting on the famous eco-museum of the Miramichi River. With 14 bedrooms and capacity for up to 33 guests, room standards range from six deluxe rooms with ensuite bath to eight rooms with shared bath. Governor's Mansion is furnished with an eclectic collection of antiques. The estate includes two 19th century historical houses, a carriage house, conservatory and a general store. Relax in the numerous sitting rooms or stroll the waterfront and gardens at this ten-acre Miramichi River waterfront property. Governor's Mansion started out as an early shipbuilder's residence in the mid 19th century and was later taken over and expanded by a successful lumber business family. Today, it is one of the last timber baron estates remaining. Governor's Mansion at one time served as the official residence of the Lieutenant-Governor of the Province of New Brunswick. Mr. J. Leonard O'Brien donated Beaubear's Island, now Beaubear's Island National Historic Park, to the people of Canada. The island is situated in the Miramichi River just in front of Governor's Mansion.
